HONG KONG, Hong Kong – Oct. 23, 2026 – EGL Tours, a Hong Kong-based travel agency offering guided tour packages, independent travel packages, flights, hotels, cruises and local experiences, has launched the EGL Japan Travel Lab, a dedicated team to grow its Hong Kong Japan tours range. The company operates both an online booking platform and physical branch locations across Hong Kong, alongside signature China products such as its Yangtze River Three Gorges cruises. The new team is staffed by EGL’s own Japan travel specialists and is designed to keep expanding its Japan range beyond the standard sightseeing circuit.

The Lab is built around three content pillars for its Japan itineraries. The first is hidden and lesser-known destinations, reached through research into regions outside the typical first-time visitor route. The second focuses on exceptional onsen, or hot spring, experiences. The third is authentic local cuisine, building on EGL’s existing food-focused tour programming, EGL Gastro Tour. EGL frames the effort as ongoing research and development rather than a single seasonal release, with itineraries to be refined continuously as the in-house team gathers more destination intelligence.

“Most travelers who go to Japan end up at the same handful of stops everyone else hits. Our Japan team’s job with the Lab is to look past the obvious circuit and bring Hong Kong travelers the hidden destinations, the best onsen and the local food that make a trip actually memorable,” said Steve Huen, Chairman, EGL Tours.

EGL’s existing Japan offering already spans destinations including Hokkaido and Okinawa, alongside thematic programmes built around family travel, food and seasonal natural events such as autumn foliage. The Lab is intended to deepen that regional coverage further, consistent with the company’s broader positioning that Japan offers much more than Tokyo and Osaka.
